  5. The Viewtek is a pretty  strange  monitor, but in this case,
  6. that's not a bad thing. Do you  still use your TV to display
  7. images from your  computer?  Can  you  not  afford  to buy a
  8. colour monitor or a  hi-res  one?  Well,  the answer to your
  9. problems is the Viewtek VT12  greyscale monitor. It works in
  10. low and  medium  res  modes  on  your  ST,  and  instead  of
  11. displaying things in colour, it displays them in greyscales.
  12. What this means is that its price can be kept to a minimum -
  13. just £59....

  15. I own  three  monitors,  the  VT12,  Phillips  Mark  II  and
  16. Gasteiner hi-res monitors. Out of all of them, the Gasteiner
  17. gives the best quality, but  out  of  the MKII and VT12, the
  18. image quality is  almost  the  same,  except  that  one's in
  19. colour and one's not. The only  thing  I can spot wrong with
  20. the VT12 is a slight  blurring  at  the  edge of images, but
  21. this is only obvious  when  you  look  hard. Otherwise, it's
  22. almost perfect. It also  features  stereo speakers for those
  23. STE owners amongst you!

  25. If you only play games, then  there's not much point in this
  26. monitor. But if  you  do  some  word-processing  and serious
  27. software,  then  it's  very   handy.   You  should  see  the
  28. difference between text on  the  Viewtek  and  text on a TV.
  29. It's very clear which is the  best - the Viewtek. Of course,
  30. games do look a little boring on it - they remind you of Mr.
  31. Major (no insult intended of course)  a bit, but it's better
  32. than nothing. After all, what more do you want for £59?
